Versions (2017-03-24)
- Printix Client for Windows version 1.1.952.0.
- Printix Client for Mac version 1.1.738.0.
New features
- Possible to make a print driver configuration that specifies availability of Paper trays, Stapler, Hole punch unit, and other Installable Options. Form to tray Assignment and printing defaults can also be specified. When the printer is added on the user's computer the configuration is added as well. That way, the user does not have to make these configuration changes. If you are satisfied with the print driver's factory defaults, you do not need to make a print driver configuration. Works with Windows. See how to work with print driver configurations.
- LPR printing: In addition to RAW printing on TCP port 9100, it is now possible to print in LPR mode and use other ports.
- Printix App: Possible to select all documents. Use the Select all checkbox to the right of the printer name to select/deselect all documents for that printer.
Improvements
- Printix App: As you release documents for printing you can now see the document transition through the states: Working on it, Printing and Printed. Hints on troubleshooting printing issues, like Printing failed, can be found in the Printix User Manual.
- Printix Client for Windows: With the /oms parameter you can now deploy Printix Client without asking user to sign in at installation. This method can be used to install Printix Client as part of an automated process that completely configures a new computer before this is delivered to the user. This way, sign in is postponed until the user starts to use the computer. Also works with Microsoft Intune and similar deployment tools.
- Printix Administrator: You can now see what computer a user is signed into. The User info page now lists the computers the user is signed into.
- Printix Administrator: If a print driver is uploaded the date and time of the upload is now shown below the print driver name on the Print drivers page.
- Printix Administrator Manual: New section Universal print drivers with information about the major printer vendors' universal print drivers and how to configure Installable Options, Form to Tray Assignment, and Printing defaults.
Fixes
- The printer diagnostics state Input tray is empty is now treated as a warning. Before it was treated as an error, resulting in the printer being listed as offline even when the printer had other trays with paper.
- Printix Client: If the computer is on Unknown network it will only be possible to add printers with Enable printing via the cloud checked and Printix Anywhere printers.
- Printix Client for Windows: Determine the user correctly when printing through a terminal session.
- Printix Client for Windows: If web proxies were used, the Sign in page did not always work.
- Printix Client for Windows: Add printer sometimes failed for Windows class drivers (prn*.inf).
- Printix Client for Mac: Add printer failed on some computers.
- Page counting: Brother XL2HP is now parsed as PCLXL, Kyocera KPDL is now parsed as PostScript. Stopped erroneous attempt to parse Canon UFR II, as it would result in wrong page counts.
- Printix Administrator: If you are trying Synchronize groups without the required role as global admin in Azure AD you will now be stopped with the message: Could not verify Azure AD group synchronization. Before you were falsely led to believe groups were synchronized, but the Groups page would show the three loading dots forever. See also: How to enable groups.
Known issues
- Do NOT uncheck Enable print later on the Settings page, as this will cause all documents to be printed by the print method Print later. If you do uncheck it, users will experience that nothing is printed, but in fact their documents are waiting for them to release it from the Printix App. Please contact support@printix.net, so we can provide you with a version of Printix Client that does have this issue.
- Printix Client for Windows: On Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) at sign in, it may complain about missing System.web.dll and errors in production.js. This happens if Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is installed. To resolve, upgrade to Microsoft .NET Framework 4.
- Printix Client for Windows: If you open the Control Panel, Features and Programs and click Printix Client the Product version is that of the initially installed Printix Client. The current version number can be seen on the Printix Client Diagnostics dialog.
- Legacy installations are on version 1.1.954.0 of Printix Client for Windows or version 1.1.740.0 of Printix Client for Mac.
- Printix Client for Mac: Documents printed to a Printix Anywhere printer are always tracked as 1 page.
- Printix Client for Mac: Printix logo is still in orange instead of black.
