New features
- Print from Android and iOS phones and tablets to mobile print enabled Printix managed printers.
- Enterprise ready Printix App with mobile print support and better support for installations with hundreds of printers. New Printers page with Search and Filter function. When you select a printer, you are now actually selecting one of the printer's print queues. Printix App now dynamically checks if printing is possible based on the availability of the selected printer and document (stored in cloud or on your computer). Built on the same code base to give a more uniform experience in the web app and the native app for Android and iOS. Favorite printers are NOT carried across from the old version. For additional details, please see the FAQ: Printix App version 1.2.22 - What has changed?
- Easier to do analytics. On the Settings page's Analytics tab data can be extracted to either a Printix or an own Azure SQL Database. Data can be viewed and analyzed in the updated Printix Power BI solution or a tool of your own. The previous method of file-based data extract will not be supported after 2019-02-28.
- Support for Windows Server 2019. In connection with computer and print driver properties, we use the term Windows Server to represent the Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 systems.
- Printix App for Android and iOS allows you to click Sign in with another method, and then you can click Sign in with Vertical.
Improvements
- The Printers page now lists the printer model name below the printer name.
- Print drivers page now support these Filters: Latest version and Language.
- On the Computer properties page's Tasks tab you can sort tasks on the date they were created, and you can Clear expired tasks.
- If the Printix Client installation file is renamed, or you leave out the MSI argument /id, the Printix Client can now handle this, but under some circumstances the user may be asked to Pick a Printix Home at the first Sign in. This is the case if A) The user Sign in with Microsoft and Azure AD is used with multiple Printix Homes, B) The user Sign in with Google and G Suite is used with multiple Printix Homes, or C) The user Sign in with email and the account is registered with multiple Printix Homes.
- Deployment of Printix Client for Mac via Intune is now possible.
- Printer IDs generated beyond the first 78 IDs will now also have different letters. The old algorithm assigned printer IDs like AAA, AAB, AAC, ... , ZZZ.
- To comply with Windows Information Protection (WIP) both the PrintixClient.exe and PrintixService.exe are now signed.
Fixes
- Sometimes printing stopped working after a printer's address was changed. Now Printix Client will check if there are changes to the printer's address while trying to connect to the printer.
- Available print settings in Chrome browser now adapts to the capabilities and properties of the selected Printix for Chromebook printer.
- Sometimes old printer shares was not removed.
- When adding or modifying a Print driver configuration you are now prevented from selecting computers where multiple users are signed in.
Known issues
- Sign in returns to Sign in without signing the user in. We have seen this happen in very rare situations because of an invalid entry in the Networks.json file. If you have encountered this issue, then Delete the file Networks.json and Restart the computer. On Windows the file is in C:\ProgramData\printix.net\Printix Client\Configuration and on Mac the file is in /Users/Shared/.Printix.net/Configuration.
- On Windows, when you open the Control Panel, Features and Programs and click Printix Client the Product version is that of the initially installed Printix Client.
