- Printix App for Android mobile print is now network aware and supports the Via the cloud option On selected networks only. You can use this to make a site's printers available to only the Android phones and tablets on the site's Wi-Fi. A computer with Printix Client must be online on the network and UDP port 21337 must be allowed.
Improvements
- Printix App for Android and iOS/iPadOS will, if you Sign in with another method (not Microsoft and not Google), ask you to enter Your Printix Home (acme.printix.net). After you select OK proceed to select among the sign in methods your administrator has enabled, like Okta, OneLogin, and email (Printix account). Typically, only one method is enabled and you can proceed to sign in without first having to select method. These steps are only required the first time you sign in to the native Printix App. Sign in to Printix Client, Printix Administrator and Printix App web app is unchanged and does not require you to enter your Printix Home. Sign in to Printix Chromebook does not require you to enter your Printix Home if tenant and tenantId is specified in the configuration file. Sign in via printix.net offers Microsoft, Google and Email (Printix account).
- On the Printer properties page you can now select which Protocol and Port to be used to connect to the printer. The default is the RAW protocol via default TCP port 9100. Use of other port numbers is also supported. Other options (depending on features of the printer) include: IPPS protocol via default TCP port 443, IPP protocol via default TCP port 80, and LPR protocol via default TCP port 515. Requires Printix Client version 1.3.1047 or later. Please submit a support request to have your Printix Client updated. Appending for example $$ipps to the Printer address to manually configure protocol and port, still works and overrides the selection of Protocol and Port on the Printer properties page. For printers registered before April 2021 you should Contact printer to obtain and update the list of protocols supported by the printer. Prior to this you should ensure the protocols are also enabled on the printer.
- Faster printing when submitting multiple Copies from Chromebook. Requires the printer to be connected via the IPPS or IPP protocol and Printix Client version 1.3.1047 or later.
- Support for Collate when submitting multiple copies from Chromebook. Requires the printer to be connected via the IPPS or IPP protocol and Printix Client version 1.3.1055 or later.
- Remove IPP printer status check before printing to save 2-3 seconds on HP printers connected via the IPPS or IPP protocol. Requires Printix Client version 1.3.1058 or later.
- The Self-registration tab on the Authentication page now features two separate Save buttons.
